The Service Technician will service and repair integrated audio, video, and lighting systems in commercial venues, houses of worship, governmental buildings and businesses throughout the country while working as a productive team member to meet scheduled deadlines.  Frequent overnight and multi-day travel, working over 40 hours in a work week, and providing phone service support to clients is required.

Essential Job Duties:   

  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues associated with AVL systems in the commercial arena – emphasis on house of worship, corporate, education and government environments
  • Think and work independently
  • Pull and terminate wire and cables, use proper, safe installation techniques of all AVL equipment
  • Understand and adhere to AVL best practices
  • Plan, organize and implement job duties to successfully complete service calls by a specific deadline
  • Communicate any unusual issues or problems to the Lead Service Tech or Director
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism, knowledge and courtesy when working with clients
  • Operate a wide variety of test equipment including, but not limited to:
    • Multi-meters/Voltmeters
    • Signal/Tone Generators
    • Network Testers
    • Audio/Video/Lighting System Analyzers
  • Operate and troubleshoot on a wide variety of AVL technology and equipment, like:
    • Projection systems / display devices
    • Crestron / AMX control systems
    • Switching / routing / interfacing technology
    • Video-conferencing & Audio-conferencing technologies
  • Read and understand architectural, electrical, structural & AVL systems drawings
  • Continually increase job knowledge and stay current with new developments and trends in the AVL industry
  • Assist coworkers when called upon
  • Responsible for keeping track of personal time card which includes clocking in and out of the correct job assignment and verifying time sheet prior to payroll processing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and ability to pass background checks and drug tests for project security clearance at all time
  • Drive our commercial vehicles which requires a DOT medical certificate
  • Other duties of a similar nature and level may also be assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • CTS is encouraged, CTS-I, NSCA or ESPA equivalent is desired.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of low voltage electronics
  • Experience with various techniques used in pulling and terminating wire and cable
  • Ability to work independently but also cooperatively and effectively within a team
  •  Ability to work day, evening or weekend shifts
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Considerable analytical and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft– Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
  • The ability to travel by vehicle or airplane for out of town service calls
  • Considerable PC and Network knowledge
  • DOT medical certificate
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, AVL drawings, and general business documents
  • Must present a professional appearance and handle clients with courtesy and respect

Education and Experience

A high school diploma and (2) two years of experience in audio, video and lighting installation/service, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training required to successfully perform the essential job duties of this position. CTS certification is preferred and strongly encouraged.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, reach and push with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to sit, climb and balance.  Work requires ability to perform job duties on scaffolding, ladders and at various heights as well as extensive overhead motion required to install equipment. Work requires the ability to lift up to fifty pounds daily and, while most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities may occur for moderate periods of time in a seasonal temperature-fluctuating environment.
